Hokkaido Herring Roe Processing Record the Lowest In Seven Years
According to the Hokkaido Federation of Marine Products Processing, the actual amount of salted herring roe treated with hydrogen peroxide in Hokkaido in 2021 was 1642 tons, a decrease of 6% from the previous year and the lowest in seven years, Minato Shimbun reported.
Hydrogen peroxide, a food additive, is used for bleaching and sterilization in salted herring roe processing. The federation requests a third party to inspect and issue a certificate showing that there is no residue in the final products of the member manufacturers...
