British Columbia Trading Company Hit with $75,000 Fine, Forfeiture of Over 20,000 Shark Fins

Hang Hing Herbal Medicine was sentenced to pay a CA$75,000 (US$60,000) after pleading guilty to the unlawful import of a protected shark species without a permit. The court also ordered the company to forfeit an entire shipment of processed shark fins totaling 20,196 fins weighing approximately 550 kg.
